Rock The Block

The Phoenix Project Ministry of DSBC has partnered with local community leaders to find ways our church family can serve the city. With so many budget cuts and setbacks, many of the sanitary and aesthetic needs of our schools and neighborhoods are not being met. This year we adopted four schools in our community and committed to volunteering one Saturday morning at each location. We will had four workdays on Saturday between January 15th and February 26th. Consider joining us for one or all of the workdays next time! Please be in prayer as to how you can help us Rock the Block and compassionately serve our city.

So, you want to help Rock the Block? Well here’s how you can help next year! Just follow these 3 easy steps!

1 - Where Ya Gonna Go?

Check below, then decide which one(s) you’d like to be a part of. If you plan on only participating in one workday that is great, or attend all four to gain Rock Star status. This will allow you to not only serve people in your area, but also get to know some of the DSBC church family that lives in your community.

*Rock Star status does not entail any tangible benefits. The only actual benefit is that you will be referred to as a “rock star” at community service. You are, however, permitted to dress up like a rock star on your own. But that’s really up to you ;-)

2 - Who Ya Gonna Tell?

Once you’ve determined which day(s) you’d like to help, be sure to let Hillary Johnson know about it. Just send an email to .

Also, be sure and invite your friends and family to join you on your workday. As mom always said, “Many hands make light work”.

3 - Whatcha Gonna Do?

The day of the service project, just show up at the location listed. For most of the locations, we’ll meet in the main parking lot at 8am.
Please dress accordingly. The majority of work will require gettin' a little dirty. Please bring your favorite shovel, paintbrush, or gloves (depending on the type of work).

Why are we doing this?
One of our primary values at DSBC is Compassionate Service. We believe that God has called us to love our neighbors as ourselves and to do good for people.

Why use the title “Rock The Block”?
Working with each other to serve our city is not only something God has called us to do, it’s a ton of fun. Rock The Block is fun, and helps us maintain our focus on the “blocks” that we live and work on.
