Desert Springs Bible Church supports other local ministries through our volunteers' time, talents, and finances.
Rio Vista serves South Phoenix by providing food, clothes, showers, English as a Second Language classes, resume building and a computer lab. We support the center by going to help pack food boxes, sort and hang clothes, cleanup the facility and occasionally work on special projects like laying tile, building walls, etc. Please visit them online at www.riovistacenter.com.
The Good News Clubs are another ministry we support that is working in our public schools to share the love of Jesus Christ with elementary age children. The purpose of Good News Club is to evangelize boys and girls with the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and establish (disciple) them in the Word of God and in a local church for Christian living. Each week the teacher presents an exciting Bible lesson using colorful materials from CEF Press®. With Child Ltd. is a ministry dedicated to preserving the life of children from the time of conception. They recognize each woman in a crisis pregnancy as a human being, deserving of compassion as she searches for direction. It is their goal to provide tangible and visible evidence of love through a supportive continuum of care, assiting her in making informed decisions. In 2010, Desert Springs held a diaper drive for With Child and collected over 1000 diapers. We will be having one in the first quarter of 2011, as well. http://www.withchildphx.org/
Young Lives -In Young Life, we have the privilege of extending Jesus Christ’s love to kids as they are, where they are. For high school and middle school girls who are expecting or are raising a child on their own, that love takes the form of a program called YoungLives. Treating each mom and her child or children with unconditional love and respect, YoungLives offers teen moms relief from the isolation and struggle of their daily lives and hope for the future. YoungLives mentors provide friendship, parenting advice and help meeting the practical demands of raising a child. Mentor Kids USA - Throughout the history of the organization, local churches have played a major role by providing program support and mentors. Mentors commit time each week to be a friend and role model for an at-risk youth. The mentors offer concrete expressions of unconditional love and support to the mentee; and the two participate in activities designed to build friendship, trust, and constructive values. http://www.mentorkidsusa.org/
