While we are flexible in what we
will try to accomplish, there are many things that
are not appropriate for this group to be involved
in. These topics include, but are not limited to:
Contacts
Structure
The group shall consist of the DSBC youth
pastor, the primary youth volunteers, and several
parent members. The parent members should be regular
attendees of DSBC and have a student that is
involved with the youth ministry. There should be a
maximum of one parent per family as a member of the
group in order to provide a broad membership while
keeping the group size to a manageable level.
Communications
With the goal of facilitating
communications between the youth ministry and the
parents, the group will be very flexible in how they
receive and provide information. Parents can present
questions to the any group member via verbal,
written or email. As the group provides information
to the parents is will use similar methods. The
group will try to provide individualized response to
specific queries from a parent and where
appropriate, provide information in a format to
address a larger group.
Meetings
The meetings of the parent advisory group
will be held monthly and will be closed meetings to
the group members only. Parents wishing to have
questions, issues, or concerns brought to the group
can speak with any of the members, who will make
sure that the topic is addressed at the next regular
meeting. The Parent Advisory Group will respond to
the parent individually and, if appropriate, provide
the information to all parents.
The parent Advisory Group will hold several open
meetings for any parents to attend. These meetings
will provide an additional opportunity for the group
to give the parents information about the Ignite
Ministry and to allow for questions from parents.
