"What MOPS has provided for me… is a welcome break; a chance to make new friends; the opportunity to know I'm not the only mom who goes through the struggles and joys of raising young children."
What is MOPS?
MOPS stands for Mothers of Preschoolers. MOPS International exists to meet the needs of every mom - urban, suburban and rural moms, stay-at-home and working moms, teen, single and married moms - moms with different lifestyles who all share a similar desire to be the very best mom they can be! MOPS recognizes that the years from infancy through kindergarten are foundational in a mother-child relationship and are filled with unique needs. MOPS helps moms through relationships established in the context of local groups that provide a caring atmosphere for today's mother of young children.
MOPS is about:
- celebrating motherhood
- meeting needs
- making Connections
- experiencing God’s love through relationships and resources
What happens at the meetings?
At each MOPS meeting, we have a delicious brunch, listen to an encouraging message and have discussion time with other moms as well as make a fun craft (once a month) .
Times and Location
We meet in the Activity Center of Desert Springs Bible Church, located at 16215 N Tatum Blvd, Phoenix, AZ 85032 (click here for a map). Our meetings take place on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month from 9:15am to 11:30am.
Please allow plenty of time before the meeting to drop your children off at childcare. You will not want to miss this time of fellowship!
Real People
As a mom, you plan for the best, but have no real idea what life will look like when the rubber hits the road. MOPS provides friends, mentors, and resources that can help along the way. Through the teaching times and the living examples of the mentors, mothers gain a vision for what God wants to accomplish through them. Moms are often pampered, cared for and nurtured. They find companionship, comfort, and encouragement.
MOPS strives to be accepting, and provide a safe environment. It is not uncommon for the moms to have sobbed during meetings, broken a friend’s casserole dish, or be called out to deal with screaming kids who won’t be consoled in the nursery. This is group of REAL moms, with REAL problems, seeking wisdom from the Bible, mentors, and each other.
