Mission Statement

Before he ascended, Jesus spoke to His disciples and gave them a mission. “Go, and make disciples of all the nations.”  This is our mission.  We believe that God has specifically chosen to work through Desert Springs and other churches in the valley to accomplish this mission in Phoenix.

We express our mission this way: “Transforming people to impact their world for Christ.” This statement keeps us focused on why we are here, and what we are to be doing. The following sections describe the different aspects of our mission statement:

Transforming

We believe that sin has corrupted the world and our relationship with God, and that only by the power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ will things be made right again. We long to see peoples lives transformed as they come to know Jesus as their savior. When someone comes to faith in Jesus, God begins to transform them from the inside out. This transformation is a lifelong process, often taking a person focusing on the self, to focusing on God in all things.

People

God has placed us in Phoenix for a purpose. The Bible teaches that as Christians, we are to spread the gospel. We are all missionaries. While we support cross-cultural mission work, our main mission field is the people of north Phoenix.

Jesus’ call to spread the gospel and make disciples is our primary mission, and North Phoenix is our mission field.  Understanding and interacting with the culture/city around us is an important part of spreading the gospel. Our desire is to love our city, and to serve our city, and ultimately, see the gospel spread throughout North Phoenix.

To Impact their World

The gospel of Jesus Christ impacts people at every level of their being. As followers of Jesus we are compelled to behave differently than before we knew Him. We are called to be missionaries.  Each of us is a missionary to our city.

As a church family, we are a community within a community.  We believe that Jesus’ command to spread the gospel calls us to live intentionally within our city and to interact with the people around us.

This intentional living manifests itself relationally in the restaurants and coffee shops we frequent and the people we invite into our homes. It effects how we behave in the workplace, and home, and how we spend our time and resources to serve others.

For Christ

Ultimately, everything that we do is for the glory of God. We do not desire to change our city for some religious or political agenda. On the contrary, our desire is that people will look at our church family and see the glory of God through the power of Christ in our lives.
